ARQUITECTURA À MARGEM surge como vontade de dar a conhecer exemplos dispersos de abordagens transversais da arquitectura, valorizando as experiências multidisciplinares, onde as obras se deixam ‘contaminar’ por outras áreas de conhecimento e da sociedade, que não os frequentes nos contextos padrões onde a arquitectura se move.
A exposição não é por isso uma selecção, espécie de best of mediático ou anti-mediático, pelo contrário, mostram-se exemplos quotidianos de alternativas que se situam nesse contexto transversal de intervenções referidas.
A arquitectura como instalação, visível na obras dos Plano B e dos 2012 Architecten, ou a reutilização de elementos urbanos desenvolvida na obra de Jan Korbes, são exemplos claros dessa tentativa de negação da forma-fotogénica sustentado pelo contrário a forma-conceito obtida pela lógica da subversão dos elementos utilizados.
A materialidade da terra e da madeira, estabelecendo relações de continuidade entre o meio e a obra, entendida a segunda como o prolongamento do primeiro, são disso exemplo as obras de Martin Rauch ou John Wardle, que reutilizando a tradição construtiva não negam a contemporaneidade da concepção.
A utilização conceptualmente direccionada para privilegiar o aproveitamento da energias e sinergias motivadas pelo meio ambiente – sol, vento, etc. – estabelecendo relações formais e funcionais que de forma lógica se relacionam com os eco sistemas – eco lógica – é exemplificada de modo abrangente pelo trabalho de BEDZED.
A importância do ensino da arquitectura, da consciencialização social do arquitecto, do trabalho directo com as comunidades, recorrendo por vezes a autoconstrução, é amplamente desenvolvida pela RuralStudio, ou por organizações como os ASF Int (Architecture Sans Frontières Internacional), onde nos são dados exemplos claros da arquitectura como responsabilidade social.
Todos estes participantes, que voluntariamente acederam ao nosso convite, promovem a profissão de arquitecto, evitando a máxima da verdade absoluta e propondo modelos de arquitectura à margem das actuais correntes institucionais.
ARQUITECTURA À MARGEM (Architecture at the Shore) was set to give visibility to some examples of transversal approaches to architecture, valuing multidisciplinary experiments, where projects let themselves be “contaminated” by other fields of knowledge and society, apart from the contexts where architecture usually dwells.
The exhibition is not some kind of a media best-of, or anti-media for that matter, on the contrary, it shows daily examples of alternatives reflecting the before mentioned transversal approaches.
Architecture as art installation, shown in the works by Plano B and 2012 Architecten, or the recycling of urban elements pursued in the work by Jan Korbes, are clear examples of the attempt to deny a photogenic-object and achieve a concept-object by subverting meanings of the elements put to use.
The materiality of earth and wood, establishing relations of continuity between the milieu and the work, being the later a prolongation of the first, are present in the work of Martin Rauch and John Wardle, while making use of constructive traditions do not deny the contemporaneity of conception.
The use, in a conceptually oriented way, of the energy and synergies provided by the natural environment – sun, wind, and so on – establishing formal and functional relations in a logical way between ecosystems – eco logical -, its exemplified widely through the work of BEDZED.
The importance of architectural teaching, of social consciousness of the architect, working with communities, encouraging self-construction, it’s widely developed by Rural Studio or by organizations such as ASF Int (Architecture Sans Frontiéres Internacional), who gives us clear examples of socially responsible architectural practices.
All these participants, who voluntarily accepted our invitation, promote the profession of the architect, avoiding truisms and proposing architectural practices at bay from present day institutional streams.
